Hair Dye Answers

You know the story, yeah I had naturally brown hair & dyed it brown. Now I tried to dye it back blonde & you probably know what happened.. It turned orange-ish yellow. Well, I tried to fix that by buying a home stripping kit but all that did was make it a little bit lighter. It is still yellow with a little bit of orange. What can I do to fix it? Do I have to dye it brown again? Is that the only way to cover up my mistake? Or can I dye it a medium/dark blonde? Can I dye it from a box or is it a MUST to go to a professional? I know it is going to fry my hair I’m prepared for that though.

i have natural dark brown, almost black hair. last summer i had blonde highlights put all over, professionally. my roots started showing so i dyed it all black a couple months after, myself. now about an inch of my roots show. so last week i dyed it myself, medium brown, but only my roots took to the color. so my roots are medium brown & the rest stayed black. will any at home color take ? maybe light brown ? or will nothing cover the black dye ?
