Hair Dye Answers

I have naturally dark blonde hair which I have never dyed. I want to dye it medium blonde at home with a boxed hair dye. If I choose a hair color that is lighter than my hair will it actually lighten it or just not show up? I’ve heard that box dyes just deposit color. Will it do anything if my hair is darker?

I have DARK BROWN hair, some people mistake it for black. It’s naturally dark brown but been dyed alot darker.
I really don’t like it this colour & i really want it medium/light brown. I bought a hair dye a little while ago which was supposed to lighten my hair a fair bit but it actully turned my hair DARKER & for a while it looked proper black!? I dunno how that works..
but i need to know how to lighten my hair..Is their a certain type of hair dye i need to buy?
PLEASE HELP ME.
btw i can’t go to the salon to get it done because i have no money for it & mum won’t pay for my hair to be dyed once again -.-

I’ve dyed my hair before, but just shades of my natural color. I want to go lighter (from brown to light brown, or very dark blond). I’m wondering if I have to bleach my hair first & then use a box color? Will i have to you a purple shampoo after bleaching? Any other tips, besides going to a salon?

To dye my hair a sligtly lighter color, do I bleach & then immediately dye? Should I use regular hair bleach or is there a certain kind of bleach to use if you’re gonna dye it right after?

i have verry dark brown hair. people mistake it for black but its really not. i tryed dyeing my hair honey brown with dark honey blonde hair dye. & nothing happened the only thing that changed is that my roots arent as dark & my hair is a little softer. so how would i do that. i’m not going to the beauty salon to die my hair because i only have like 11 dollars. (i’ll soon have more, birthday) i died my hair over the weekend. whens the next time i can die it? & what kind of die should i use & do i need to bleach my hair. & 1 more thing, will Garnier 100% color work for me?

About 3 months ago I dyed my hair dark brown to cover up my outgrown hilights (my natural color is brown). I used Clairol Natural Insticts in a temporary dye. Thing is, it’s lightened up a little bit but it’s still totally dark after 3 months. Would I be able to get my hair dyed blonde now?
