Will Leaving Regular Conditioner In Over Night Really Work Or Will It Hurt My Hair?

My old Hairstylist suggested putting a small amount of regular conditioner in my hair over night & rinsing it out in the morning to help reverse the damage done to my hair by dyeing it.

the chemicals will hurt your hair unless its leave in conditioner. using too much of that could damage your hair too. Maybe 10 minutes at the most for conditioner.

It probably weigh the hair down. Consider using Infusion Leave-In Hair Conditioner. It has a watery consistency, but it is very effective.

it will hurt it because conditioner has to much of each indegredient. if you read the label, it says to only leave it for 3-5 minutes, imaqine, sleeping with wet hair, that has conditioner, & leaving it for 7-9 hrs. (normal sleep). so it wil hurt your hair.

it wont hurt your hair but it wont help it either. conditioner coats the hair it does not penetrate the hair. as some one who worked years in a salon i can tell you that is what we tell people to get them to buy product. it like telling you if you cut the dead ends it will make your hair grow faster. it wont. it will make your hair look better & more healthy but every ones hair grows at its own pace. there is no way to reverse damage done to your hair. conditioner will help hide the damage but it will not reverse the damage. i from time to time will sleep with mayo in my hair after i color it to put back some of the oil that hair color takes out. hope this helps…..p.s. dont buy in to every thing a beautian tells you. most of us work on commemsion.

You can use regular conditioner, it won’t do any damage to your hair.
Ways to Keep Your Hair Healthy:
    Straight / loose wavy hair:
Shampoo 2-3 times a week, condition every time you get your hair wet.
    Curly / tight wavy hair:
Shampoo 1 time a week but condition every time you shower. If you need to shampoo more than 1 time a week, make sure to use a moisturizing shampoo.
Shampoo removes oils from hair that it needs to be healthy. If you do this everyday, it will make your hair dry & damaged.
When you condition your hair, comb through it with a wide tooth comb.
Use a deep conditioner once a week.
NEVER use a brush on wet hair, use the wide tooth comb. Normally, dry hair can be stretched 1/5 of it’s length before breaking. Wet hair can stretch between 40-50% of it’s length. This makes it easier to break when dry.
Use moisturizing products like a leave in conditioner on your hair.
Try not to expose your hair to heat everyday, but when you do, use a product that will protect your hair from the heat.
Try not to dye your hair or perm your hair often, these processes are damaging to your hair & can dry it out.
If you straighten your hair, blow-dry it w/ a flat brush. First, go over your hair with the blow-dryer until it is just damp, & then use the brush. Finish it off with the straightener if you want.
    Hope this helps!

No, I don’t think that it would damage it because why would a hairstylist say that to you if he wasn’t true. Anyway a home made conditioner for the night is:
    1. Honey
    2. mayo & egg ( yeah may be nasty, but really helps)
    3. olive oil
I mean why put those chemicals into your hair when you can put natural things in it.
