you are gonna have to bleach it. Make sure that if you are going to do something else dramatic to your hair, you’re gonna need some serious shampoo/conditioner to keep it healthy. Putting your hair through too much at once can get it dry & have bad texture.

Yes. Artificial color will never lighten artificial color. It’s like taking a yellow crayon & going over black crayon. Nothing happens. You have to bleach your hair to a blondish color first & then dye back over that with the brown. As a hairstylist, I wouldn’t recommend it. Instead, if you have to do it yourself, maybe just leave the black & bleach out the tips. That way you won’t be damaging your entire head, just the ends which you could cut off if you don’t like the result.

Yes you would have to bleach it. But doing all these things to your hair in a short period of time can severely damage your hair.
