Can You Bleach Your Hair With Household Items? What About Black Dye?
I need to change my look, majorly.
I need to bleach my hair. Is it better to use household bleach (cleaning quality, not laundry quality), or hydrogen peroxide?
After it’s bleached, I want to add some black or or darker colors. What household products can be used to dye hair?

You might try putting lemon juice in your hair then sitting in the sun or blow drying it. Hope that helps!

It’s better to use Hair bleach & Color. At a Hair Salon….NEVER use Household products on your hair. Not for your hair, & they won’t even do much. You don’t need to bleach, If your going darker. Dark colors ALWAYS take.

NO! do not use house bleach do not use lemon juice. dnt do any other that, the only thing for “household” items u can use on ur hair is kool aid to change it to whatever color the kool aid is but it doesnt stay that long & if u use yellow kool aid it wont make it lighter. & dnt use peroxide either u are going to kill ur hair & it is going to feel nasty brittle dry & hard to comb threw. & u cnt use anything at home to dye ur hair either. y would u blech it to dye it dark? that is stupid. go spend 7 dollars on bleach at a beauty store & like 3 dollars at walgreens or kmart for dye.

if you use household bleach on your hair, you will burn your scalp severely, ruin the hair shaft which will consequence in your hair snapping right up to the root,it might also seep into & burn your hair follicle resulting in permanent hair loss, all this & your hair wont get any lighter than a copper colour as the formula isn’t developed to remove hair pigmentation.
its best to use normal hair bleach. hydrogen peroxide will do nothing to the hair on its own, it needs to be mixed with bleach powder or bleach creme, because it acts as a ‘activator’ it is un activated when not mixed.
if you finally get to bleach your hair correctly, your hair will be very damaged, dry & extremely porous. if you put dye on it after wards it will take a very long time to get the dye back out as it will seep deeper than normal into the hair shaft. black is the hardest colour to remove even from the most healthiest hair so try removing it from severely damaged hair you will have a near to bald head(either that or hair snapped up to the root) you cant use any household products when messing with your hair!! its stupid to even consider.
if you want a change in hair colour & style go to a proper salon who know what their doing as it seems like you have no clue when it comes to the damages messing with your hair can have.

Do not use household bleach or hydrogen peroxide – they will really damage & dry out your hair. The household bleach would probably cause your hair to break off. The hydrogen peroxide would probably turn your hair orange. You could sit in the sun w/ lemon juice on your hair, that is more drying too, but it’s better than household bleach or hydrogen peroxide. If your hair is light, it should be fine. If your hair is dark, the lemon juice will probably make it look brassy. Professional bleach would be a lot less damaging/drying & will work better. As for going darker I’ve heard of people using coffee & kool-aide, but your results will be unpredictable. It would be best to go to a salon.

never EVER use household bleach on your body. it WILL burn your scalp/skin & could cause your hair to fall out (being one of the lesser concerns.)
Peroxide will only turn your hair ORANGE which I am sure is not your desired color (?!?!?) So, that said DO NOT use peroxide, you will not be a happy camper.
If bleaching your hair you MUST use bleach meant for your hair, sold at walmart, beauty supplies (like Sally’s) or even CVS & Walgreen’s. You can get a good quality bleach for less than 15 bucks (try wellite cream bleach, gentle, doesn’t smell too terrible, works well & it is cheap.)
Now if your hair is lighter than the color you want to dye it, bleach is NOT necessary. Just the dye itself will be enough to saturate the hair shaft & alter your color. bleaching is only necessary when going lighter (or sometimes to remove red hair dyes.) The bleach lifts the pigment in your hair so the dye can deposit new pigment. If going darker there is not need to lift what’s there already, the dye will cover it.
If you are looking to avoid paying for hair supplies you can try lemon juice & heat/sun to get a VERY subtle change. Otherwise I would stick with your natural shade. If you aren’t interested in getting out to the store to buy the necessities you probably won’t be to interested in the upkeep of managing your roots when your natural shade grows in.
