I always put my hair up when i dye it, but NEVER EVER use metal clips or bobby pins ot anything metal! it does something to the dye im not sure, but i know its bad lol!
and ummm, im not sure what else haha
when I dye my hair i put it up. I put on the color & twist it up & but it on the top of my head. I dyed my hair red & wanted to be blond, & I went to a salon to see what the could do & they told me that i would have to strip the color & then dye it, so instead of doing that I dyed it brown then i waited & and added a hint of blond. Oh by the way I used color oops to get the brown out & it is safe to use at home & you can dye your hair same dye but it only works for dark hair colors not light. So just be sure you want red as a hair color & just be fore warned that it is hard to maintain
Usually after the dye is in i twist it & put it n the top of my head. What I will never do again is try to go from dark to blonde (turned kinda orange) & I won’t go light to black (got green streaks lol). Now my friend does my hair & we use professional dye not the box stuff lol

I always put mine up in a black scrunchie. I use medium brown color, so it doesn’t show on the fabric, & I rinse it out then wash it with darks.
I will never have my hair professionally colored again. I’ve done it twice, at two different very reputable salons. Both were the worst colors I’ve ever had! In my experience, home hair color (I tend to stick with the non-permanent 28 shampoos stuff because it’s gentler on my hair) result in a less dramatic color change. I usually leave it in a little less than the directions call for, mostly because I want subtle color change, not big ones.
Good luck!
