always get your hair done professionally, because they actually do it for a profession & have gone to school & will tell you how to take care of it & stuff, i think you should go with a cool purple, because a cool blue will probably fade to a light green. it’s better to do your tips anyway just get a trim after it so the ends wont be as dead.
hope i helped!

I actually just did this to my hair. It’s a medium to dark brown, & I put a nice blue in it. It looks wonderful with the brown, & I love it.
Unless you know someone who is familiar (very familiar) with the bleaching process go to a professional. Since your hair is brown the color will only add a very slight hue to it if you don’t bleach it first. Depending on how well your hair takes the bleach it could be a multiple step process. Some stylists won’t put the unnatural colors in, but you can have them bleach it & do the color yourself since it’s the ‘easy’ part. I used a natural semi-permanent dye called Special Effects. You can buy it online or you can fine other brand of semi-permanent dye at a Hot Topic store.
As far as the down side goes, the dye is only Semi-permanent, & the color does fade. Mine hasn’t turned green (although it was possible). It went from blue to purple then to more of a silver-ish blue. Some dyes will bleed onto clothing. I hear that one of the shades of red is especially bad about it. You need to wash the color sparingly with cold water. The best way to get the color you want is go to the lightest shade of blonde possible, & if you can’t get there the color of your hair could effect the color of the dye. I was lucky & it came out a nice vibrant blue. The bleaching does make your hair dry, so if you have colored your hair before be very careful because it can cause a lot of damage. I can’t stress enough that the bleaching process should be done by someone who knows what they are doing. Bleaching is different from buying a box of blonde hair dye. Over processing & bleaching of the hair can really damage it, & possibly make it fall out. Last but not least, as you have seen you have to learn how to take the insults with the compliments. It’s not widely accepted by some people. So be certain it’s what you want to do.
